Client Goal

Replace cracked, failing fibre cement cladding on a federal facility's compound-facing protrusions before it compromises the building envelope.

Challenge

Work is phased around live operations inside a fenced, secure compound, with restricted and after-hours work windows and multi-sided, elevated protrusions to access.

Approach

Demolishing the failed cladding, strapping, and window/door flashing in sequence, repairing the existing building wrap, installing new vertical rainscreen strapping with new trims and cap flashing, and cladding with corrugated metal matched to the existing building profile — using lift and scaffold for the elevated, multi-sided sections.

Outcome

In progress — phased re-cladding proceeding section by section with no disruption to the facility's daily operations.

Scope of Work

  • Demolition of cracked and failed fibre cement siding and strapping
  • Demolition of window and door flashing and trim in the affected areas
  • Repair of existing building wrap
  • New vertical PT rainscreen strapping
  • New 24 ga. trims and cap flashing
  • Corrugated metal cladding matched to the profile of the existing building
  • Lift and scaffold supplied for elevated, multi-sided protrusions
  • Site coordination with operations, including restricted and after-hours work windows
